How do I place a bid at an auction?

As the auctioneer progresses in his call for bids, simply raise your hand when you want to bid. If you're not sure if you're in or out, raise your hand again and the auctioneer will keep you in. He will not let you bid against yourself.

What is a buyer's premium?

A "Buyer's Premium" or "Bidders Fee" is a tool auction companies use to defray the cost of the auction onto those that benefit from it, you the buyers.

Without it, the sellers would not be selling their property today at public auction.

As a buyer, set your "top price" for an item and stop bidding 10% below it. For example: If you set $100 as a top bid, stop at $90. When you get to check out, your bill will be $90 plus a $9 "Buyer's Premium" for a total of $99. See you have already saved a dollar!
